Reactions and Derivatives of Triosmium dodecacarbonyls
Triosmium dodecacarbonyls have had rich organometallic chemistry since its first preparation in 1943 by Heiber and Stallman. Due to its robust trimetallic framework, Os3(CO)12 can react with a variety of heteroatomic donor ligands to give mono or multi- substituted derivatives or products.

Phosphines, thiols, aromatic ligands with donor atoms give a variety of substituted products with the general formula [Os3(CO)11L].

In many cases, these novel organometallic compounds show unique catalytic properties towards C-H and C-C activations reactions.
